Issue 2                                                2012 Season December 2011

The Life President, Chairman, Officers and Trustees of the club would like to wish all Members a Happy Christmas and successful bowling in the New Year.

Christmas Draw & Fancy Dress (Country & Western) Party

This will be held at the Clubhouse on Saturday 17 December. It will all kick off at 7.30 p.m. and everyone is welcome. The party is in the form of an American Supper so just bring along a plate of those pre-Christmas goodies, enough to share, and enjoy the evening. A programme of entertainment has been arranged and, of course, the Christmas Draw will be made (if you have not bought your numbers yet then there is still plenty of time – 3 chances for only £1). Our MC for the evening will be Peter Thorn and there will be music and comedy, and the chance for some dancing or just jigging about. A small fee of £3 per person will be charged, to cover the overheads.

Green Maintenance

There is an urgent requirement for two or three additional members to join the current teams to assist with the maintenance of the green. The green is essential for all of us and I wish to achieve the standard of the playing surface we had last year. If you are able to help then please let me know and I will try my best to match the maintenance schedules with your own obligations.

Paved Areas

The maintenance team is currently relaying all of the paved areas around the green. It would be a great help if you could stay off the newly laid paving and outside the roped off area. The work is undertaken each weekend and should be finished before the start of the season.

Short Mat Bowling

I am very pleased to report that both of the league sides – Avonside (Div. 2) and Severnside (Div. 3) have had an excellent start to the season and will be pushing for promotion in 2012. Club short mat sessions are held on Monday and Friday evenings starting at 7.00 p.m., why not come along and give it a go.
